If you received your PECOS Cyber Academy student Chromebook in the mail and run into issues with your computer connecting to your personal wifi network, this article will help address the common causes and solutions.
To start, you will want to log into your device. On your desktop or landing page (Google Chrome) you can look down at the lower right corner and find the wifi network signal icon and click on it.
Once selected, you will see a pop up window with the nearby networks within range. You should be able to either get auto-connected to your own home network, or you might need to find your network and enter the password in order to connect. You will see green text that reads "connected" if correct. (If you do not see your network, try clicking the slider to turn off bluetooth searching for a network and wait several seconds before clicking it back on to find it in the list.
If you select your home network but the connection is spotty or often disconnects unexpectedly, you can try a few more approaches.
1) Try clicking on the "Known Network" you are connected to. You will pull up another option screen. Try clicking on "Forget" to trigger the computer to forget this network. You can then return to the list of "Unknown Networks" and refresh your connection to find it again and join it once more.
2) If you are still noticing slow, "lagging" latency issues with speed or connectivity, you can try clearing your cache and cookies, fully shutting down the device (not just closing the lid of the computer but commanding a full shut down of the device before turning back on), moving closer to your home network router or refreshing/rebooting your home network/router.
3) If you run into a circumstance where trying to access a wifi network takes you to a mostly blank page with an error message regarding a captive portal problem (typically some kind of loading issue), you can review the following article for additional support:

4) You are also able to try setting up a wifi hotspot using your mobile device to test your connection.
If issues persist, please reach out to your home network provider's official support contact options for further assistance.
