Zoom is incredibly demanding on a laptop's graphics processor. It uses the AMD integrated GPU to handle video decoding, rendering the gallery view, processing virtual backgrounds, and encoding your screen shares. When the AMD driver buckles under that load, Zoom freezes, the screen goes black or green, and the laptop restarts itself to recover.
Please update the Video Driver, follow the steps to install and restart the device. This will resolve Google Meet and Zoom crashes.
**Important: Keep the device plugged in and do not shut it down during installation.**
To make sure your device stays powered ON and doesn't fall asleep during this process:
- Open the Start Menu and click Settings.
- Select System on the left menu, then click on Power & battery.
- Select Screen, sleep, & hibernate timeouts
- Under Plugged In, set "Turn my screen off after" and "Make my device sleep after" to Never.
That should keep the device up and running so it can download the apps/configure it so that it doesn't go back to sleep-mode.

If the computer continues to crash from Google Meet/Zoom, disable hardware acceleration. This forces the CPU to handle the video load instead of the crashing graphics card.
If using Google Chrome:
- Open Chrome and click the three dots (top right) > Settings.
- In the left sidebar, click System.
- Toggle off Use graphics acceleration when available (or "Use hardware acceleration when available").
- Click the Relaunch button that appears.
If using Microsoft Edge:
- Open Edge and click the three dots > Settings.
- Click System and performance > System.
- Toggle off Use graphics acceleration when available.
- Click Restart.
If using Zoom Desktop Client:
- Open the Zoom Desktop Client.
- Click the Settings (gear) icon in the top right corner.
- In the left menu, click Meetings & webinars.
- Click the Advanced button at the bottom.
- Under the Use hardware acceleration for: section, uncheck the following options:
- Video processing
- Sending video
- Receiving video
- Go back to the left menu and click Share Screen.
- Click Advanced.
- Uncheck Enable hardware acceleration for screen sharing.
- Restart Zoom.
