If your Lenovo Thinkbook won't power on or doesn't show a charging light, the device may have a "static charge lock." This is a protective safeguard against power surges or static shocks.
To resolve this issue, please follow these steps:
- Drain residual power: Unplug the charging adapter and hold the power button down for 60 seconds.
- Locate the reset pinhole: Find the small hole on the bottom cover of your laptop (refer to the provided image for its exact location).
- Reset the device: Insert a paperclip, small thumbtack, or needle into the pinhole until you hear a "click." Keep the button pressed for 10-15 seconds.
- Recharge and test: Plug the original charging adapter back into the device and let it charge for at least 3 minutes.
- Check for power: Attempt to turn on the laptop.
If you see a charging light, the static charge has been successfully cleared.
If this does not resolve the issue, try using a different power outlet or charging adapter to rule out hardware faults. Additionally, inspect the power brick and charging tip or USB-C connector are pushed in fully and free of dust or damage.
