If your Lenovo laptop's built-in camera stopped working, a full power reset fixes it most of the time. Try the quick checks below first! Each one takes under a minute.
Use this guide if you see any of these:
- The Camera app says "We can't find your camera"
- Error code 0xA00F4244 (NoCamerasAreAttached)
- Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Cameras says "No cameras found"
- Zoom, Meet or Teams shows no camera to choose from
Step 1: Quick checks
- Camera key: Find the key with a crossed-out camera icon (usually F8 or F9). Press it once, wait 10 seconds, then open the Camera app. If that doesn't work, press Fn + the camera key once, then let go of both. Pressing it several times in a row can leave the camera switched off.
- Privacy shutter: Some models have a small slider above the screen that covers the camera. Slide it open.
- Privacy setting: Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Camera and make sure Camera access is turned on.
- Close other apps: Quit Zoom, Teams, Meet or any other app that might be using the camera, then try again.
Step 2: Full power reset (fixes most cases)
A normal restart doesn't fully cut power to the camera. This does:
- Save your work and close all apps.
- Hold down the Shift key, then click Start > Power > Shut down. Keep holding Shift until the screen goes black.
- Unplug the charger and anything plugged into a USB port (document cameras, mice, docks).
- Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds, then let go.
- Plug in only the charger and turn the laptop back on.
- Open the Camera app to test it.
